Last night I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at the Meydan IMAX theatre.
I’m not going to review the movie because everyone has different tastes and its easier to make up your own mind but I thought it was good and did the series proud. A typical action, great stunt, cheesy dialogue feel good movie.
As a Dubai resident of many years I was particular excited (geek!) about seeing the city take such a central role in the movie. I had no idea that over half the movie is set in and around Dubai! Its nice to have a bit of positive press for Dubai (especially at the moment) and watching as the camera sweeps over the downtown area or follows Tom Cruise as he drives along the Hatta road nearly plowing into a herd of camels, I think its a great moment for Dubai. Great might be a strong word, but its definitely a nice moment and a bit of fun.
Obviously its a hollywood film and the epic sandstorms raging and engulfing DIFC aren’t part of our daily life but its a bit of fun and sees our city beamed onto the silver screen around the world.
Below are just a few cool shots of the Burj. As its getting a bit of attention at the moment I thought I would add to that. And you have to admit, it is a pretty cool building.
