On another ‘stumble’ around the internet I discovered these amazing and very unique pieces of art.
Using old maps as his canvas, Fernando Vicente, a Madrid-based artist illustrates portraits integrating the landmasses and oceans into a well crafted piece. He uses his illustrative style to bring a sense of Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical drawings. The combination of his style on the maps give the impression the pieces were done years ago.
Experimentation is his motto, shifting and mixing different environments in just one work. We love the ideas and collage of working onto of something to create something else. We have added a few examples below but you can see more on his blog. We’ve looked for him on twitter but there are quite a few Fernando Vicentes so if you see this Fernando, a graphic designer in Dubai is a big fan and can’t wait to see more.
